If you were one of the many who wasn’t able to see the Machel Montano film, Bazodee, at its European premiere back in March 2017 or at one of the select UK screenings since – well, you now have a chance to buy or rent it via Machel’s website.
The movie, which in 2017 formed part of the London Asian Film Festival, stars Anita Panchouri (Natalie Perera), the dutiful Indian daughter of a businessman (Kabir Bedi) who’s deep in debt. Anita is about to marry a wealthy Londoner (Staz Nair) when a chance encounter with a local singer, Lee de Leon (soca music star Machel Montano in his film debut), sets things askew.
The film picked up two awards at the LAFF annual awards dinner and dance, taking the ‘Best Music’ and ‘Audience Choice’ awards after creating a storm with its soca music and carnival vibe.
It costs US $4.99 to rent the film and US $14.99 to buy it (both plus the relevant VAT), and it’s available at machelmontano.com/bazodee.
Most definitely one for the collection!
