The Carnival Music Management Committee (CMMC) of Saint Lucia has announced the deadline for the submission of songs for the 2022 Groovy and Power Soca Competition.
Artists should send the Committee one composition per genre on a USB drive, along with a completed registration form, to Seagrapes Avenue, Rodney Bay, or to the Cultural Development Foundation, Barnard Hill, Castries, by 4pm on Friday 3 June. Submissions made by email will also be accepted.
The CMMC also announced an updated judging format for this year’s Groovy and Soca Monarch Competition in the following stages:
- Pre-selection in the form of a live audition on Saturday 11 June
- Semi-finals/Soca Semis on Friday 24 June at the National Cultural Centre Grounds
- Soca Monarch Finals to be held on Friday 8 July.
CMMC chairman Claude Paul said the Committee is “looking forward to receiving the song submissions for this year’s Groovy and Power Soca Monarch from our artistes. We’re expecting a really exciting competition this year. The five tents have a packed schedule for patrons and we’re encouraging persons to go out and enjoy the entertainment and to of course do so safely.”
