Shift in Carnival Culture evident at Army Fete 2024

For many people, Army Fete signals the peak of the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival season.

While the event boasted a lineup of stellar performers, including Yung Bredda, Wadicks, Farmer Nappy, GBM Nutron, Mical Teja, Lyrikal, Nailah Blackman, and Nadia Batson, there was a noticeable shift in the energy and overall vibe that had become synonymous with Army Fete for many years.

Despite pockets of lively crowds in general, VIP, and cooler sections, the overall fervour seemed subdued compared to previous years.cEvent organisers delivered on their promise of an enviable artiste lineup that included some of the best in the business.

The dynamic duo of Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons closed the night, acknowledging the challenges of the Carnival season while delivering a captivating performance that bridged old and new Carnival vibes.

Despite the diminished crowd size and subdued atmosphere, Army Fete 2024 retained its essence of celebration and unity. Artists shared insights into the complexities of the season, acknowledging the shortness and challenges while celebrating the resilience and spirit of Carnival.

Preedy reflected on the season as a mix of hardship and sweetness, emphasizing the power of music to uplift amidst adversity. Jadel expressed gratitude for international collaborations, while Lyrikal commended the unwavering support of fans and promoters.
