Released Date

Caribbean artist Skinny Banton is confidently entering the 2025 Carnival season with fresh music and a powerful presence that proves he’s here to stay. His latest release, Liquor, is generating buzz and setting the stage for an exciting year ahead. Skinny emphasises that his music transcends borders, celebrating the Caribbean spirit while providing visitors at regional carnivals with an unforgettable experience.

Five years have passed since Skinny Banton’s breakout hit, Wrong Again, took the music scene by storm. Initially released in 2019, the song remains a fan favourite, securing a place in the hearts of listeners worldwide. Known for his authenticity and relatable lyrics, the Grenadian artist continues to captivate audiences with his genuine approach and soulful sound.

Hailing from Carriacou, Grenada, Skinny draws much of his inspiration from the island’s rich Jab Jab culture, although his creativity extends beyond that. His 2024 tracks, Yard Fowl, Today, and In Meh Feelings, delighted fans and showcased his versatility. Now, Skinny delivers a vibrant anthem with Liquor, which captures the essence of Caribbean enjoyment. “This song is for the people—the drinkers, the vibe-bringers, and everyone who adds energy to Carnival with every sip,” he shared. While celebrating the fun side of Carnival, Skinny also promotes moderation; “It’s all about balance. Nobody likes a drunkard, so enjoy responsibly,” he added.

Soca music, with its infectious rhythm and contemporary twist on traditional calypso, continues to gain global recognition, and Skinny Banton is proud to represent its unique flavour. Although Carriacou recently faced the devastating impact of Hurricane Beryl, its Carnival spirit remains strong.

Skinny noted that the island’s carnival coincides with Trinidad & Tobago’s world-famous festivities. During a visit to Trinidad and Tobago in November, he reconnected with fans and showcased his signature sound, reaffirming his belief in music’s unifying power. “Music is a universal language,” he explained. “Just like we have different accents and dialects, music comes in many forms, and each one is worth experiencing.”

Skinny Banton remains dedicated to creating music that uplifts and connects people as he prepares for T&T’s ‘Greatest Show on Earth’ and the global carnival circuit. Reflecting on the legacy of calypso icons like The Mighty Sparrow, he said, “Great music makes you stop, listen, smile, and move. That’s what I strive to deliver every time.”
