Sylvanna Charles from the British Virgin Islands has been crowned Miss Elegantly Plus 2025 at the pageant’s inaugural event, held on Friday 14 March, at the Eileen L. Parsons Auditorium, H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.
The event, themed Boldness Revived, aimed to celebrate plus-sized beauty and foster a more inclusive space in Caribbean pageantry.
Competing against Mekelia Miller from Trinidad and Tobago, Milove Fontaine from Antigua and Barbuda, and Hasanna Graham from the U.S. Virgin Islands, Charles impressed both judges and the audience with her confidence, poise, and talent.
She dominated the competition, securing multiple awards, including Top Model, Best Evening Wear, Best Talent, Spokeswoman, Miss Photogenic, Best Fun Fashion, Best Flag Couture Ambassadorial Presentation, and Miss Popularity. The night before the main event, on Thursday 13 March, she also won awards for Spokeswoman Speech, Best Talent, and Fun Fashion during the optional segments.
With 20 years of experience in pageantry, Charles is no stranger to the stage. She won her first title as BVI Festival Princess in 2005 and has since accumulated 10 titles, including seven local, two regional, and one international. Some of her most notable achievements include Miss Teen BVI 2010, Miss Caribbean Talented Teen 2011, Miss Bold and Beautiful 2017, and Miss Plus World 2022.
Mekelia Miller from Trinidad and Tobago finished as the first runner-up, receiving awards for Best On-Stage Interview and Miss Congeniality, the latter of which she shared with Milove Fontaine from Antigua and Barbuda, who also won Best Resort Wear.
Hasanna Graham from the U.S. Virgin Islands was recognized with awards for Miss Enterprise, the Director’s Golden Award, and Best in Opening Number.
As Miss Elegantly Plus 2025, Charles was awarded a gold rhinestone crown, a deluxe rhinestone sash, and a $5,000 cash prize.
