On Saturday 13 July the Barking & Dagenham Carnival will once again take over the Barking Town Square in East London. Guests of all ages will get to enjoy a kaleidoscope of performances, including vibrant displays from international carnival artists, captivating street dancers, and spirited local school and community groups.
Although the Barking & Dagenham Carnival started in 2014 as an event dedicated to young people, it has since transformed into something that people from all walks of life can enjoy, and it has evolved into a family-friendly event.
It is hosted by UKON Careers, an organisation dedicated to empowering communities and fostering social cohesion through various initiatives and events. The carnival’s theme this year is – The Green Tin Journey, which symbolizes both the commitment to environmental sustainability and the remarkable 10-year journey of UKON Careers alongside the community it serves. Through this theme, the carnival aims to promote a greener future while reflecting on its journey of growth, both locally and globally.
Your day out at Barking Carnival would look something like this: Immerse yourself in carnival craft-making workshops, get caught up in the rhythms of African drumming and steelpan, listen to live soca music, watch dance performances, and much more. It is a fantastic event for anybody who wants to experience cultural diversity while enjoying some of the best entertainment in the UK, and there is food.
If you haven’t already, mark your calendars and join in the fun on Saturday 13 July, from 1pm-6.30pm. You can find more information and updates on the UKON Careers website, or email them at [email protected].
