Trinidad is a multicultural island with a colourful history and is rich in biodiversity.
Tourism Trinidad Limited (TTL), the agency responsible for the marketing, promotion and development of the island of Trinidad as a tourist attraction falls under the authority of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, is gearing towards hosting a total of 500,000 visitors by the year 2026.
Carla Cupid, CEO of TTL, said this in her address at a cheque handover ceremony for recipients of its Tourism Accommodation Upgrade Project(TAUP) on Friday, 8 December.
To push the agenda of hosting 500,000 people, TTL is targeting four niche categories: sport, festival, heritage (diaspora) and meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.
They have already developed a calendar of events planned for next year, including a Culinary and Cocoa Festival in July.
Miss Cupid also mentioned that Tourism Trinidad had about 27,000 visitors for Carnival 2023, and the company was looking forward to an increase in 2024 of about 31,000 to 32,000.
Tourism Trinidad Limited (TTL) aims to have a million visitors by 2032.
