2023 has been another watershed year for Lars Söderström, creator of Tobago Gold Chocolate Rum Cream. His company has been on a steady rise since its inception in 2020 and has successfully entered numerous overseas markets in just 3 years after its launch.
Like other years, 2023 has been laden with events and market breakthroughs for the Tobagonian brand. It began in early January when Lars Söderström’s company announced they had signed a distribution deal with a French-based distributor, Bruant Distribution. This news was followed soon after by announcing another distribution deal with a Romanian partner, and later with an Armenian distributor.
The German Rum Festival, Manchester Rum Fest, and Kent County Show were more stops for Tobago Gold in July. The events were brilliant growth opportunities for the brand where over 4000 people tasted the spicy chocolate rum flavour of Tobago Gold. In August, the brand made its way to the Notting Hill Carnival in London where it was truly at home with the spirit of Caribbean carnival taking over the city.
The list of awards has continued to stack with an additional 13 medals in 2023 for this innovative brand that distils together the best ingredients to bring the delicious taste of traditional Tobagonian cocoa tea to the world. It clinched another Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and a gold medal in October at the annual DB & SB Autumn Blind Tasting in London. In November, Lars Söderström was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the Trinidad & Tobago Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Champions of Business Awards. Lastly, Tobago Gold was awarded silver at The Spirits Business Global Liqueur Masters.
