The Preston Caribbean Carnival, a hallmark of the Preston area, is gearing up for its monumental 50th anniversary celebration, promising a unique and unforgettable experience.
Over the years, the Carnival has served as a platform to embrace Preston’s vibrant Caribbean culture. It offers diverse activities for all ages, with a grand spectacle for its golden jubilee.
Organisers invite participants to don large costume pieces from the last 50 years. They are also calling all former carnival queens, former carnival revellers-now-turned grandads, parents, and aunties to share in the joy of the festivities.
It will be a 2-day celebration beginning on Saturday 25 May, where revellers can expect a full-blown Reggae turn as artists including Macka B, MOBO Awards nominee for Best British Reggae Artist, Sylvia Tella the Twinkle Brothers. Sound Systems Wassifa Sound and Phoenix Sound with MCs Sweet-T and Invinceable. Patrons can also sample an array of delicious food and endless fun activities at The One Park Living Legends Music Festival.
On Sunday, the carnival parade sets off from Moor Park Avenue at midday and works its way around the town in a trail of sequins and feathers. It ends at the park, where you can find entertainment, children’s activities and food stalls until 9pm. Over 30,000 visitors are expected.
