CAMF mas band instructions and rules
Summary
Each band should ensure that their name is clear and readable and visible before they reach in front of the judges.
Where two or more bands collaborate, the bands must make it clear whether they wish to be judged as a single band and under what name. The adjudicator must have this information before Carnival Sunday.
It is mandatory to place your band in one of the categories.
There will be a count of costumed masqueraders on the day to verify sizes only.
Points will be deducted if the name, size and category of the band are not known.
T-shirts and T-shirt sections will not be counted as part of the band.
Non-compliance means that the band will have to negotiate to be allowed on the road the following year.
A children’s band is made up of 20 or more children up to age 19 in costume.
An adults’ band is 30 or more people aged 20 and above in costume. A section of the band may have children, but the number of adults must exceed 30.
All bands that pass in front of the judges and fulfil the above criteria will be considered for judging.
