The 2026 Saint Lucia National Carnival Queen Pageant officially got underway on the evening of Tuesday 8 April at The Landings Resort with the presentation of the nine delegates at the Sashing Ceremony.
The event, streamed live, marked the first official appearance of the contestants and the start of their journey toward the National Carnival Queen crown.
Each delegate was formally sashed by her sponsor, symbolising her role as both contestant and ambassador.
The delegates and their sponsors are:
- Nayley Lewis – Bank of Saint Lucia
- Simone Sonson – Diamond Girl
- Sydney James – 1st National Bank
- Eudoxia Poleon – Duty Free Pointe Seraphine
- Shernette Rameau – Republic Onboard
- Darlene Francis – Export Saint Lucia
- Faith Edward – Saint Lucia Tourism Authority
- Adel Montoute – WMB Event & Rentals
- Derelle Dubois – Caribbean Galaxy Real Estate
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairperson of the Carnival Planning & Management Committee (CPMC), Tamara Gibson, outlined several initiatives aimed at redefining the role of the National Carnival Queen.
Among them is the Queens for Change Initiative, which requires each delegate to partner with her sponsor to champion a social cause focused on community development, youth empowerment, or environmental awareness.
Also introduced was the Queen Leadership Academy, a structured developmental programme offering training in public speaking, leadership, media relations, and advocacy to prepare delegates for their reign and beyond.
Sponsors are expected to play an active role throughout the competition, providing mentorship and exposing delegates to opportunities within their organisations.
The 2026 National Carnival Queen competition continues in the weeks ahead, culminating in the crowning of the new queen during the carnival season.
