Silent for Grenfell, Respect & Reflect

|

On both days of Carnival in Notting Hill we will, once again, hold a 72-second silence at 3pm on both Sunday and Monday, in honour of the 72 lives lost in the Grenfell Tower fire just over two years ago. The tower is within sight of the Carnival route, and the incident affected, and still affects, many local residents.

When we stop and fall silent in the midst of the masquerade we are sending a powerful message to those who wield power without humanity: our lives matter, and we hold you responsible for those we have lost.

All sound systems, bands, local pubs and bars have been asked to connect to radio station The Beat 103.6FM so that there will be a coordinated count-in and silence throughout Carnival. All those attending Carnival, masqueraders and residents are kindly being asked to observe the silence as we remember Grenfell together.
