LIAT (2020) Limited (LIAT 20) has officially named its inaugural brand ambassador as soca star Skinny Fabulous (Vincentian Gamal Doyle). The announcement was made via a press release from the regional airline, which emphasised the move as a strategic initiative to deepen engagement with communities and customers across the Caribbean.
Known for his significant contributions to the soca genre, Skinny Fabulous first rose to prominence with his 2008 hit Head Bad during Vincy Mas, earning him his first soca title. He followed this success with back-to-back wins in 2009 with Beast Let Go and Charge Up. He later claimed a double win at the 2015 Power Soca and Ragga Soca competitions with Mashup International and This Island is Mine respectively.
The artist has collaborated with top regional talents such as Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons, Peter Ram, Kevin Lyttle, and Jamesy P. His international collaborations include work with Jamaican dancehall heavyweights Bounty Killer, Shaggy, Busy Signal, and Mr. Z from the Netherlands.
In 2009, he was honoured as Entertainer of the Year in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. He earned multiple nominations at international award shows, including the International Reggae & World Music Awards and the International Soca Music Awards.
LIAT 20 CEO Hafsah Abdulsalam described the partnership as a natural fit, highlighting Skinny Fabulous as a figure who reflects the airline’s renewed values of Service Excellence, Openness, Accountability, and Resilience—represented by the acronym SOAR. “This collaboration symbolises the enduring spirit of the LIAT brand and its future-forward journey,” she said.
The official ceremony to unveil Skinny Fabulous as Brand Ambassador was held on Friday 25 April, at the Royalton Chic Hotel in Antigua. LIAT (2020) Ltd. expressed enthusiasm about the partnership’s future, which is expected to support various regional initiatives in the service of Caribbean unity and development.
