The youth steelpan takeover is back and celebrating 70 years of pan in the UK.
Today, Sunday 13 August, the free celebration of young steelpan players, Steel the Show, takes place on the Tabernacle’s doorstep in Powis Square: 10 bands each take a turn to play for five minutes, in five rounds, each showcasing a different genre of music.
The format works really well, and generates excitement as the audience moves from one part of the location to another to enjoy a taste of up-and-coming pan talent. This is a free outdoor event suitable for all the family from 12-7pm, more details at socanews.com/events.
